Participant Group All Secondary English Language Teachers 
Objective(s) At the end of the workshop, teacher participants will understand:
  1. the place where podcasting can motivate children to speak in English for a real audience;
  2. the 5 P's of podcasting i.e. Plan, Perform, Prepare, Publish and Promote and their importance in the learning process;
  3. the use of separate tools to carry out each of the P's above or an integrated solution for doing the whole 5 in the one application.
 
Programme Description
  1. Introduction to podcasts and its application to motivate students to create audio recordings for an audience;
  2. Discussion of the framework to ensure that the activity is structured and can result in high quality podcasts that are conducive to students learning;
  3. Introduction to the freeware tools and the proprietary software, Podium, that teachers may choose to produce podcasts;
  4. Demonstration on recording podcasts using selected tools;
  5. Hands-on practice of following the 5 P's to construct podcasts and publish them to a server for access after the workshop;
  6. Questions and answers and explanation of a task for participants to apply the teaching strategies learnt from the workshop in schools.
(Note: A set of notes and a trial copy of the software will be given to teacher participants so that they can start creating and sharing their podcasts immediately at schools)

Remarks 1. Heads of schools are requested to submit the online application to the Information Technology in Education Section on or before the closing date of nomination. Nominations will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis whereas considerations will also be given to allow more schools to participate. Prior application is required and walk-ins will not be entertained.
2. Accepted or rejected applicants and the respective school heads will be notified through the e-Service Portal Account at least 7 days before respective event commencement. Successful applicants attending the course should bring along their notification letters for the course and are advised to use public transport. No parking spaces are available at the venue.
3. In the event of public announcement by the Education Bureau that all schools are to be closed as a result of adverse weather conditions (e.g. tropical cyclone or rainstorm), the course scheduled on that session (A.M. or P.M.) will be cancelled.
4. Being late or early leave for more than 30 minutes without prior consent will not be counted as achieving 100% attendance.
