Remarks:   
Background The Yaumati Catholic Primary School (YCPS) was funded by the EDB under the 'Incentive Scheme for Developing Instructional Software' to(develop an online e-Dictation System for learning and teaching of the English language. The Scheme aims to enrich digital resources so as to enhance learning and teaching effectiveness in schools and a free version of the e-Dictation system has been made available for use by schools. 
Objective(s) At the end of the workshop, teacher participants should be able to:
  1. recognise a range of tools that can motivate students to practise the spelling of new English words;
  2. understand the ways that the tools could be used to enhance the learning and teaching of the English Language in primary schools; and
  3. acquire necessary skills of using the tools to maximise the benefit of students.
 
Programme Description
  1. Introduction to the online e-Dictation System and related technology such as tablet PCs or UMPCs to access the designed online English learning and revision tools, that can motivate students to learn English anywhere anytime;
  2. Sharing of frontline experiences to illustrate how the tools can help to achieve student-centered learning;
  3. Hands-on practice; and
  4. Questions and answers.

Remarks 1. Heads of schools are requested to submit the online application to the Information Technology in Education Section on or before the closing date of nomination. Nominations will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis whereas considerations will also be given to allow more schools to participate. Prior application is required and walk-ins will not be entertained.

2. Accepted or rejected applicants and the respective school heads will be notified through the e-Service Portal Account at least 7 days before respective event commencement. Successful applicants attending the course should bring along their notification letters for the course and are advised to use public transport. No parking spaces are available at the venue.

3. In the event of public announcement by the Education Bureau that all schools are to be closed as a result of adverse weather conditions (e.g. tropical cyclone or rainstorm), the course scheduled on that session (A.M. or P.M.) will be cancelled.

4. Being late or early leave for more than 30 minutes without prior consent will not be counted as achieving 100% attendance.
