Participant Group School Heads, Deputy School Heads, Curriculum Co-ordinators, IT in Education Team Heads and Members, Technical Support Staff (TSS)/Computer Technician of all Primary, Secondary & Special Schools. (Each School Head/Teacher can be accompanied by a TSS/Computer Technician) 
Background Many teachers participating in the workshops on “Formulation of School-based Information Technology in Education Development Plan” sometime earlier have expressed the importance of experience sharing amongst schools and aspired to learn more about IT initiatives and practices currently in place or being implemented. The IT in Education Section is therefore organising a series of sharing sessions aiming at disseminating IT strategies adopted by some schools with a view to facilitating other schools’ planning of IT in education holistically according to individual priorities and needs. 
Objective(s) This seminar aims to :
  1. briefly introduce the “Resource Pack to Support School-based Development of IT in Education” (hereafter called the Resource Pack) as well as its associated platform and tools; and
  2. share practical experiences in server management & Internet security in school.  
Programme Description
  1. Brief introduction to the Resource Pack as a tool to help schools formulate their own IT in education development plans and the mini-site “School Development of IT in Education” http://www.edb.gov.hk/ited/sdited;
  2. Introduction to server management & Internet security, firewall & IP filtering, system backup and other application proposals related to servers
  3. Concluding remarks; and
  4. Questions & Answers
Remarks:1. Applicants should have knowledge of TCP/IP;
2.Applicants can bring a blank 8GB USB flash drive to store some useful resources provided by the speakers.

Remarks 1. Each teacher is entitled to bring at most one TSS to attend the course. As the TSS cannot apply the course by himself/herself, the teacher applicant should indicate whether he/she would bring a TSS along to the course when making online application. The name of the TSS should be provided in the online form in advance if he/she plans to attend the course with the TSS in pair.

2. Heads of schools are requested to submit the online application to the Information Technology in Education Section on or before the closing date of nomination. Nominations will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis whereas considerations will also be given to allow more schools to participate. Prior application is required and walk-ins will not be entertained.

3. Accepted or rejected applicants and the respective school heads will be notified through the e-Service Portal Account at least 7 days before respective event commencement. Successful applicants attending the course should bring along their notification letters for the course and are advised to use public transport. No parking spaces are available at the venue.

4. In the event of public announcement by the Education Bureau that all schools are to be closed as a result of adverse weather conditions (e.g. tropical cyclone or rainstorm), the course scheduled on that session (A.M. or P.M.) will be cancelled.

5. Being late or early leave for more than 30 minutes without prior consent will not be counted as achieving 100% attendance.
