Background Starting from the 2014/15 school year, the Education Bureau (EDB) provides schools with the “Chinese Language Curriculum Second Language Learning Framework” to step up the support to non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students’ learning of “Chinese as a second language”. Teachers may set progressive learning targets and learning progress using a small-step learning approach to enhance the learning effectiveness of NCS students, with a view to enabling them to bridge over to mainstream Chinese Language classes and exit to multiple pathways. In parallel, supporting learning and teaching materials are provided and series of professional development programmes are organised regularly to help teachers categorically adapt the Chinese Language curriculum with the framework and assessment tools.  
Objective(s) To equip teachers' knowledge and skills in using the Chinese Language Assessment Tools with reference to Chinese Language Curriculum Second Language Learning Framework to assess their NCS students' Chinese Language learning and to set learning objectives, arrange learning and assessment activities according to their learning needs.  
Programme Description This is a refreshed course. Major contents include: 1.How to use assessment tools to analyze the performance of students 2. How to use Chinese Language Curriculum Second Language Learning Framework to enhance learning and teaching 3. Discussion and sharing 4. Introduction to the refinement of the " Learning Framework"
