Background CITERS 2012 is organised by CITE of the University of Hong Kong and co-organised by the EDB. It focuses on ways to optimise designs and applications of new technologies that enhance learning in educational and professional development settings. The goal of this symposium is to discuss recent research, share good educational practices and new technologies, with a view to furthering research and practice that support learning with IT.
 
Objective(s) CITERS 2012 aims to:
1. present important research findings from Hong Kong and beyond on the impact of ICT on learning and teaching and the factors that influence them;
2. provide a platform for the presentation and sharing of outcomes from research and development work conducted by practitioners and researchers to advance our knowledge and understanding of the various issues related to technology-supported learning and teaching; and
3. discuss recent research, good educational practices and new technologies, with a view to furthering research and practice that support e-Learning design and designs for e-Learning.
 
Programme Description The main theme of CITERS 2012 is “e-Learning in a Changing Landscape of Emerging Technologies and Pedagogies” and consists of the following four sub-themes

• Emerging technologies: cloud computing, mobile technologies, beyond Web 2.0 – changing affordances for emerging practices
• e-Leadership: Leading e-learning in a changing education ecology – managing change in a constantly changing environment
• e-Pedagogy for mobile ubiquitous learning : new ways of teaching with new technologies
• Learning analytics: analysis and visualisation tools to support assessment for learning and just-in-time feedback

The above four sub-themes will be addressed through various forums, workshops, symposia, papers, demonstrations as well as case studies.

Remarks 1. Every single day of the Symposium will be regarded as an individual professional development programme. Applicants have to submit a separate application for each day of the Symposium. For further details of Day 1, please refer to EI0020120191.

2. Heads of schools are requested to submit the online application to the Information Technology in Education Section on or before the closing date of nomination. Nominations will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis whereas considerations will also be given to allow more schools to participate. Prior application is required and walk-ins will not be entertained.

3. Accepted applicants and the respective school heads will be notified through the e-Services Portal Account 7 days before the respective event commencement under normal circumstances. Successful applicants attending the course should bring along their notification letters for the course and are advised to use public transport. No parking space is available at the venue. The accepted applicants, who cannot attend the course, are required to contact course organiser at least 3 working days before the event commencement.

4. Rejected applicants and the respective school heads will also be notified through the e-Services Portal Account 3 days before the respective event commencement under normal circumstances.

5. In the event of public announcement by the Education Bureau that all schools are to be closed as a result of adverse weather conditions (e.g. tropical cyclone or rainstorm), the course scheduled on that session (A.M. or P.M.) will be cancelled.

6. Being late or early leave for more than 30 minutes without prior consent will not be counted as achieving 100% attendance.
