CITERS 2013 focuses on ways to optimize designs and applications of new technologies that enhance learning
in educational and professional development settings. The goal of the symposium is to discuss recent research, share good educational practices, and new technologies, with a view to furthering research and practice that support learning with IT.
The conference has four sub-themes:
• Partnerships for transformative learning beyond the cloud
• Technology-supported assessment for learning
• New literacies and transformative learning environments
• E-leadership: Socio-cultural dimensions of e-learning and systemic change
The main theme of the Symposium is “Transformative Technologies, Learning Environments and Partnerships”.
CITERS 2013 aims to:
1. present important research findings from Hong Kong and beyond on the impact of ICT on learning and teaching and the factors that influence them;
2. provide a platform for the presentation and sharing of outcomes from research and development work conducted by practitioners and researchers to advance our knowledge and understanding of the various issues related to technology-supported learning and teaching; and
3. discuss recent research, good educational practices and new technologies, with a view to furthering research and practice that support learning with IT.
The main theme of CITERS 2013 is "Transformative Technologies, Learning Environments and Partnerships". There are four sub-themes, addressed through various forums, workshops, symposia, papers, demonstrations relating to using technology to enhance learning and teaching. The symposium will feature sessions on a broad range of topics related to the Symposium theme and subthemes. Symposium activities are organized as a two-day event. On each day, there will be a keynote address and parallel sessions on e-learning, including introductions to CITE projects that use Web 2.0 at the primary and secondary school levels, especially on building teacher support networks for curriculum and assessment innovation, as well as leadership for successful e-learning innovation to achieve sustainable impact on students’ learning outcomes and school culture. 1. Every single day of the Symposium will be regarded as an individual professional development programme. Applicants have to submit a separate application for each day of the Symposium. For further details of Day 1, please refer to EI0020130172.
2. Heads of schools are requested to submit the online application to the Information Technology in Education Section on or before the closing date of nomination. Nominations will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis whereas considerations will also be given to allow more schools to participate. Prior application is required and walk-ins will not be entertained.
3. Accepted applicants and the respective school heads will be notified through the e-Services Portal Account 7 days before the respective event commencement under normal circumstances. Successful applicants attending the course should bring along their notification letters for the course and are advised to use public transport. No parking space is available at the venue. The accepted applicants, who cannot attend the course, are required to contact course organiser at least 3 working days before the event commencement.
4. Rejected applicants and the respective school heads will also be notified through the e-Services Portal Account 3 days before the respective event commencement under normal circumstances.
5. In the event of public announcement by the Education Bureau that all schools are to be closed as a result of adverse weather conditions (e.g. tropical cyclone or rainstorm), the course scheduled on that session (A.M. or P.M.) will be cancelled.
6. Being late or early leave for more than 30 minutes will NOT be granted any CPD hours.
