Background CITERS 2014 focuses on ways to optimize designs and applications of new technologies that enhance learning in educational and professional development settings. The goal of the symposium is to discuss recent research, share good educational practices, and new technologies, with a view to furthering research and practice that support learning with IT.
The conference has six sub-themes:
• Partnerships for learning beyond technology
• Technology-supported professional learning
• Leveraging learning environments for meeting diversity in the classroom
• Open Educational Resources (OER)
• Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
• Professional learning for meeting students' special educational needs
Objective(s) The main theme of the Symposium is “Learning without Limits?”
CITERS 2014 aims to:
1. present important research findings from Hong Kong and beyond on the impact of ICT on learning and teaching and the factors that influence them;
2. provide a platform for the presentation and sharing of outcomes from research and development work conducted by practitioners and researchers to advance our knowledge and understanding of the various issues related to technology-supported learning and teaching; and
3. discuss recent research, good educational practices and new technologies, with a view to furthering research and practice that support learning with IT.
Programme Description The main theme of CITERS 2014 is "Learning without Limits?”. There are six sub-themes, addressed through various forums, workshops, symposia, papers, demonstrations relating to using technology to enhance learning and teaching. The symposium will feature sessions on a broad range of topics related to the Symposium theme and subthemes. Symposium activities are organized as a two-day event. On each day, there will be keynote addresses and parallel sessions on elearning, including introductions to CITE projects that use Web 2.0 at the primary and secondary school levels, especially on building teacher support networks for curriculum and assessment innovation, as well as leadership for successful e-Learning innovation to achieve sustainable impact on students’ learning outcomes and school culture. Remarks 1. Prior application via Training Calendar System (TCS) is required and walk-ins will not be entertained.

2. Heads of schools are requested to endorse the online application on or before the closing date. Nominations will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis whereas considerations will also be given to allow more schools to participate.

3. Applicants and the respective school heads will be notified the application status through TCS 7 days before the event start date under normal circumstances. Successful applicants should attend the confirmed event and bring along the confirmation mail when attending the course.

4. The accepted applicants who cannot attend the course are required to inform the ITE Section at least 3 working days before the event date in order to arrange substitution.

5. Rejected applicants and the respective school heads will also be notified through the TCS 3 days before the respective event commencement under normal circumstances.

6. To help keep a more accurate attendance record, participants are required to sign-in & sign-out on registration list. Being late or early leave for more than 30 minutes will not be granted any CPD hours.

7. No parking space is available at the venue.

8. Special Arrangements for Bad Weather
a. Course/Activity in the morning session will be cancelled when Black Rainstorm Warning Signal or Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is issued or stays in effect at or after 6:30 am.
b. Course/Activity in the afternoon session will be resumed when Black Rainstorm Warning Signal or Typhoon Signal No.8 or above is cancelled at or before 11:30 am. Otherwise, the Course/Activity is declared to be cancelled.
